Projects & Engineering Manager

This Projects & Engineering Manager position is your opportunity to lead a highly motivated team of talented engineers as we scale-up our technology and take it to the world through global expansion.

In particular, you will:

  • Lead, manage and mentor the team

  • Oversee test work activities with vendors and testing providers

  • Lead project execution in New Zealand, and

  • Manage the delivery of engineering packages by external engineering providers.

The person.
As our Projects & Engineering Manager you will have:

  • A tertiary engineering qualification (preferably Chemical / Process / Mechanical).

  • Proven leadership skills and experience leading a team

  • Engineering experience at a senior level in process or industrial settings

  • Project management experience to a senior level

  • Sound communication skills with proven experience working with engineering contractors, vendors and suppliers

  • CPEng registration, or equivalent (preferred, but not essential)

Ideally you are a high-energy problem solver who is flexible and has a strong motivation to achieve. You are comfortable with the challenges that come with start-up life and you appreciate that the unknown becomes known through creativity, perseverance, and teamwork.

This role is based in New Zealand, but some travel to interface and support the project delivery teams overseas will be required.

Operations Manager

Reporting directly to the General Manager, this role is crucial in managing a small and highly qualified production team, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, optimizing production processes, and maintaining high-quality graphite production standards.

Key responsibilities include:

  • People Management and Leadership: Leads and motivates the operations team to achieve production targets, provides coaching, training, and performance feedback, and fosters a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement

  • Planning and Coordination: Develops and implements comprehensive work schedules and production plans to optimize plant efficiency as well as refines and implements procedures and systems.

  • Inventory Management: Manages raw material and chemical inventories to ensure uninterrupted production and implements inventory control measures to minimize waste and optimize costs.

  • Quality Control: Establishes and maintains rigorous quality control procedures to ensure the production of high-quality graphite samples and ensures regular inspections and quality audits to identify areas for improvement.

  • Data Monitoring and Reporting: Collects, analyses, and interprets production data to monitor plant performance and prepares comprehensive reports and presentations for management review.

  • Documentation and SOP Development: Develops and maintains standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all operational processes and ensures compliance with regulatory standards and internal policies.

The ideal candidate:
 
You will have experience in operations, logistics, production or plant management, leading high performing teams in a manufacturing environment. Strong in people management and forming effective relationships you will have a demonstrated understanding of LEAN manufacturing.  A general understanding of business, budgeting and general management principles will also be beneficial.  
 
Articulate with a practical can-do attitude, you will be skilled in measuring and monitoring numbers and producing insightful reports for management.

Financial Accountant

The newly established position of Financial Accountant is pivotal within the company's organizational structure. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Financial Accountant serves as a key liaison between various stakeholders.

The primary responsibility of the Financial Accountant is to ensure the effective management and administration of the company's accounting function, processes, and compliance measures.

This encompasses a wide array of duties, including:
 

  • Financial Accounting: Overseeing all aspects of financial accounting, including the preparation and maintenance of financial records.

The ideal candidate:
 
You will ideally be a fully qualified accountant with an appropriate tertiary degree with a successful track record in a similar role. Experience within a Chartered Accountancy firm would be beneficial. You will have a good understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards. Xero and Excel knowledge is required.
 
Articulate with a practical can-do attitude, you will be skilled in analysing and producing insightful easy-to-understand financial reports and providing audit assistance. You will be solutions driven with a strong eye for detail and aware of the need to consider the big picture.
